Coronado Attractions

The village of Coronado has two main attractions, the white sand beaches that grace its shore and the historic Hotel del Coronado. The beaches here are some of the finest in the city, offering long white expanses for you to walk, beach comb, sunbath and just have a great day hanging out. With the gentle surf and lack of bars in the neighborhood, it makes a great family beach, one that is safe, clean and most of all fun.The second and most recognized attraction on the island is the Hotel del Coronado. Built in 1887, the hotel has graced the shores of this community for over 110 years and is still going strong. A walk through the corridors is a trip back in time, when grandiose and opulent accommodations were in vogue and actually a draw on their own.

Central and North Beaches, Coronado

With its long, slender stretch of white sand, the expansive views of Point Loma and the historic Hotel Del Coronado anchoring the eastern part of the beach, both Central and North beach are two of the most visited beaches in San Diego. The water here is warm, the surf rolling and the parking difficult at times, but this beach is well worth a stop. North Beach offers a lease optional dog beach, attracting both pet and non-pet owners. Central Beach, with the famous Hotel Del, offers great amenities, easy access to the hotel and restaurants off Orange Ave, and a view that is to die for. Come early and stay all day and you will have memories that will last a lifetime.

Silver Strand State Beach

Silver Strands location, south of the city of Coronado and north of the city of Imperial Beach, makes this a great destination. The climate is very mild here, and escapes most of the coastal fog that shrouds the coastline in the summer months. The park straddles a thin sliver of land, with a 2.5-mile oceanfront and a .5-mile bayside easement, making it a family destination and offering great camping, swimming, surfing, boating, water skiing, fishing, volleyball, and picnicking facilities. There are four large parking lots that collectively accommodate 1,000 vehicles; showers, restrooms, fire rings and BBQ areas are also available.
